Janakpurdham, Dec 3: Speakers in a memorial assembly of late Shivahari Bhattarai demanded that an award fund be established in his honour.
Late Bhattarai was the first Chairperson of the Madhesh Province Media Council. In a memorial gathering organized by the Council here Sunday, the speakers made such demand with Madhesh Province government.
Province Assembly member Saroj Singh Kushbaha, Chairperson of Mass Communication Authority Madhesh Province, Shyam Sundar Yadav, FNJ Dhanusha’s former President Umesh Shah among others underscored that the provincial government should immediately establish an award fund to honour late Bhattarai, an advocate of freedom of press, democracy and federalism.
Council’s Acting Chairperson Kailash Das urged the line minister for facilitation in establishment of the award stating that the Council would devise procedure itself for the same if the government allowed.
Similarly, Provincial Minister for Health and Population Birendra Prasad Singh viewed that it would be a true t
ribute to late Bhattarai if we could raise strong voices against anomalies and aberrations.
