Law Minister Anisul Huq on Sunday said decision about extending the period of Khaleda Zia conditional release from jail will be taken after getting application.

“We have not received any application yet from Khaleda’s family and we’ll take decision over the extension of her jail term suspension once we receive an application,” he said while talking to reporters after inaugurating the online case tracking system ‘soltrack’ at Judicial Administration Training Institute.

The government extended Khaleda Zia’s conditional release in the two corruption cases several times.

The former prime minister was sent to Old Dhaka Central Jail after she was sentenced to five years’ imprisonment by a special court in the Zia Orphanage Trust corruption case on February 8, 2018.

She was convicted in a second corruption case later.

The 76-year-old BNP chief has been staying at her Gulshan residence since her release. A special team of her personal physicians has been overseeing her treatment.

Talking about the case tracking system, the minister said the solicitor wing of the Law and Justice Division conducts and manages the cases on behalf of all the government institutions at both the divisions of the Supreme Court.

In some cases, the government institutions were unaware about the progress of the cases and through the online case tracking system, (//http.soltrack.gov.bd), they will be able to know the updated information about any case, said Anisul.

As a result, the government offices can take necessary steps in a short period of time, he said.

Currently, over 91,000 cases are pending with the High Court and the software will be helpful to track and dispose of the cases, he added.
