Deaths from Dengue Rise to 101 in Bangladesh as Three More People Die

Dhaka: The number of deaths from the mosquito-borne dengue disease in Bangladesh this year has risen to 101, with three new fatalities reported in the past hours, as confirmed by the health office.

According to TRTworld.com, the Directorate General of Health Services announced that two individuals succumbed to dengue in the Dhaka South City Corporation, while one death occurred in the southeastern Chittagong Division. This brings the total fatalities to 45 in Dhaka South City Corporation and 11 in Dhaka North City Corporation, with 17 deaths reported in the Chittagong Division.

The situation continues to escalate, with 84 new dengue cases in Dhaka Division and 81 in Chittagong Division, resulting in hospital admissions over the recent hours. The year 2023 has seen Bangladesh report a record 1,705 deaths due to dengue, with a total of 321,179 cases recorded, according to official data.
