DCCI Inks Memorandum of Cooperation with East West University for Professional Courses

Dhaka: Dhaka Chamber of Commerce and Industry (DCCI) today signed a Memorandum of Cooperation (MoC) with East West University (EWU) to offer three-month-long professional certificate courses. President Taskeen Ahmed and Vice Chancellor of East West University Professor Dr. Shams Rahman signed the document on behalf of their respective organizations at an event at the EWU campus in the city, said a press release.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the cooperation agreement outlines courses that will focus on entrepreneurship and startup development, sustainable business strategy and ESG reporting, and project management. The signing ceremony was also attended by the Chairperson of the Board of Trustees of EWU and Former Governor of Bangladesh Bank Professor Dr. Mohammed Farashuddin.

During the occasion, DCCI President Taskeen Ahmed emphasized the importance of industry-academia collaboration in building a skilled workforce and supporting the country's economic transformation. He noted that Bangladesh faces challenges in creating a workforce that meets the demands of modern industry, despite a large number of fresh graduates entering the job market each year. Ahmed expressed hope that the collaboration will shape the next generation of professionals, strengthen the private sector, and accelerate Bangladesh's journey toward sustainable industrialization and economic growth.

Dr. Shams Rahman stated that the MoC will enable East West University and DCCI to become substantive partners in implementing courses that encourage entrepreneurship and startup development. He highlighted EWU's commitment to working with the private sector to address the growing demand for a skilled workforce.

Pro-Vice Chancellor of EWU Professor Dr. Ashik Mosaddik, Dean Professor Dr. Ahmed Wasif Reza, DCCI Vice President Md. Salem Sulaiman, and Directors Mamnun Quader, Kamrul Hasan Tuhin, and Minhaj Ahmed were also present during the signing ceremony.
