Narayanganj:The Customs, Excise and VAT Commissionerate in Narayanganj has seized approximately 24,000 kilograms of domestic and foreign yarn from a warehouse in Araihazar upazila. The yarn, valued at Taka 82.68 lakh, was confiscated due to the absence of tax invoices.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the operation was conducted by a preventive team from the Commissionerate, which raided the warehouse owned by Messrs Jahangir and Brothers at Haji Abdul Salam Market in Purinda Bazar at 8:00 am.
During the raid, the team discovered that the consignment contained 19,466 kilograms of domestic yarn and 4,555 kilograms of foreign yarn, all lacking the necessary tax documentation.
The Commissionerate has commenced legal proceedings to recover the applicable taxes.
