Narayanganj:Customs officials have seized a substantial amount of yarn valued at approximately Tk 3.20 crore from an unregistered warehouse in the city. The operation was carried out by the Customs, Excise and VAT Commissionerate in Narayanganj early today.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the preventive team conducted the raid on SR Trade's warehouse, owned by Rajib Saha, located in the Jimkhana, Tanbazar area of Narayanganj Sadar. The operation began around 1100 am following a tip-off.
The officials discovered 77,390 kilograms of polyester and nylon yarn, imported from China, Malaysia, and Vietnam, all lacking the necessary tax invoices. Additionally, 10,000 kilograms of locally produced yarn were also confiscated due to missing tax documentation.
The commissionerate has begun legal proceedings to recover the applicable revenue from the seized goods.
