Chattogram: Customs House, Chattogram is set to auction 442 containers of unclaimed and auctionable goods through a fully digital e-auction process this month, aiming to ease container congestion at Chattogram Port and enhance its operational capacity. The initiative is also intended to ensure physical and financial security, prevent wastage of state resources, and facilitate the effective disposal of uncleared goods.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, a press release issued by the National Board of Revenue (NBR) outlined that as part of Special E-Auction No. 10/2026, a total of 101 lots comprising 290 containers will be auctioned under the NBR's Permanent Order No. 91/Customs/2025/123 and Special Order No. 82/2025/Customs. The goods to be auctioned include chemicals, machinery, machinery parts, plastic waste, chest freezers, pipes, yarn, fabrics, solar modules, salt, paper, tiles, and household goods. Additionally, 86 old empty containers are included in the auction.
No reserved value will be set for the goods in the special e-auction. Meanwhile, under the NBR's Permanent Order No. 91/Customs/2025/123, E-Auction No. 09/2026 will feature 152 containers in 109 lots. This auction will include capital machinery, fabrics, PVC flex banners, chemicals, air-conditioner parts, tiles, stainless steel coils, scanners, badminton rackets, elevators, and salt.
The entire auction process will be conducted digitally to ensure transparency and accountability. To make the auction more competitive, bidders will be allowed to physically inspect the goods during office hours from August 30 to September 13, 2026, for E-Auction No. 09/2026, and from August 30 to September 15, 2026, for Special E-Auction No. 10/2026.
Interested buyers can register through the Customs' official e-auction portal and submit bids online. For E-Auction No. 09/2026, bids can be submitted from August 27 until 3:00 pm on September 16, 2026. For Special E-Auction No. 10/2026, bids can be submitted from August 27 until 3:00 pm on September 17, 2026.
During online bidding, bidders must upload a scanned copy of a security deposit equivalent to at least 10 percent of the proposed bid value and submit the original documents within the stipulated timeframe. The highest bidders will have to clear the goods subject to compliance with the applicable provisions of the Import Policy Order 2021-2024.
The tender box for E-Auction No. 09/2026 will be opened at 3:30 pm on September 16, 2026, while the tender box for Special E-Auction No. 10/2026 will be opened at 11:00 am on September 20, 2026. For detailed information regarding the auctions, bidders have been requested to visit the Customs' official E-Auction portal: auction.bdcustoms.gov.bd.
The NBR expressed hope that the technology-driven auction initiative would play an important role in enhancing the capacity of Chattogram Port and ensuring effective management of national resources.
