Chattogram: Chattogram University of Engineering and Technology (CUET) undergraduate admission test for the 2025-2026 academic year is set to take place tomorrow, Saturday, with thousands of students vying for a spot in the prestigious institution. The multiple-choice test will be conducted from 10 am to 12:30 pm, followed by a drawing test for certain candidates from 12:45 pm to 1:45 pm.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, this year, 13,942 candidates are competing for 931 available seats, including 11 reserved seats, across 12 departments within the faculties of civil engineering, electrical and electronic engineering, and mechanical engineering. The competition is fierce, with approximately 15 students competing for each seat. The list of eligible candidates has been divided into ‘A’ and ‘B’ groups. The application process opened on December 15 last year and concluded on December 31.

The university has reserved one seat for the Rakhine community and 10 seats for small ethnic groups (tribes) from the Chattogram Hill Tracts and other districts. The merit list will be determined based on the total grade points obtained in Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, and English in the Higher Secondary or equivalent examination, as per the online application forms submitted within the specified timeframe.

Group ‘A’ includes the Engineering departments and the Department of Urban and Regional Planning, while Group ‘B’ encompasses the Department of Architecture as well. The tests for both groups will consist of multiple-choice questions in Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, and English. Additionally, Group ‘B’ will undergo a freehand drawing test for the Architecture department. Group ‘A’ will be scored out of 700 marks, with 500 marks for multiple-choice questions, while Group ‘B’ will be assessed out of 500 marks for multiple-choice questions and 200 marks for the drawing test.

The admission test will be held at two sub-centers along with the CUET campus. At the CUET center, 8,500 candidates are expected, while the sub-centers at Government Haji Mohammad Mohsin College and Chattogram Cantonment Public College will host 1,365 and 4,077 candidates respectively. The ‘K’ group exam will exclusively take place at the CUET center. The merit list or results will be announced on January 31.

Professor Kazi Delwar Hossain, chairman of the admission test committee, confirmed that preparations for the test are proceeding smoothly. A coordination meeting, involving various stakeholders such as the administration and fire service, has been organized to ensure everything is in place for the examination day.
