Chattogram: The elections to the Chattogram University Central Students’ Union (CUCSU) and hall unions concluded this afternoon in a peaceful atmosphere amid tight security. Chief Election Commissioner Professor Munir Uddin informed reporters that the voting process for both the CUCSU and hall union elections was completed without any major untoward incidents, with students casting their votes spontaneously and the overall environment at polling centers remaining calm and orderly.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, voter turnout was reported to be significant and enthusiastic across the 15 polling centers. The administration implemented strict security measures for the voting process, ensuring a strong presence of police, Ansar members, and proctorial teams to maintain a peaceful voting environment. Additionally, CCTV cameras were installed at all voting centers to bolster security.
A total of 908 candidates contested in the CUCSU elections, with 415 candidates vying for 26 posts in the central parliament. The breakdown of candidates competing for various positions includes 24 candidates for Vice President (VP), 22 for General Secretary (GS), and 21 for Assistant General Secretary (AGS), among others, covering roles such as Sports and Athletics Secretary, Literature and Culture Secretary, and Library Secretary.
Over the past several days, candidates engaged in vibrant campaigns in a festive atmosphere, employing creative methods to win over voters. This proactive engagement contributed to the dynamic and enthusiastic participation observed during the elections.
