Dhaka: Mayor of Chattogram City Corporation (CCC) Dr. Shahadat Hossain has said the water logging in the city’s Katalgonj residential area and its vicinity will be solved permanently once the ongoing excavation and eviction works of Hizrah canal is completed.

The visit was attended by Chief Conservancy Officer of CCC Captain Ikhtiyar Uddin Ahmed Chowdhury, Executive Engineer of Chattogram Development Authority Eng. Ahmed Moinuddin, and local BNP leader Md Kamrul Islam.
Mayor Shahadat elaborated that the re-excavation, eviction, and expansion work of the Hizrah canal at Mehedibagh, Panchalish, Katalgonj, and Chawkabazar points is proceeding under the supervision of the Army’s 34 Engineering Brigade. He noted that the original width of the canal was 30 feet, but it had narrowed to 12-15 feet in some areas due to illegal encroachment.
