Chittagong: The election of the Chittagong Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCC and I) is set to take place on November 1. Director of Local Government Division and Chief of Election Board Monowara Begum made the announcement today.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the election will see members of the business community elect a 24-member Board of Directors for the sessions of 2025-2026 and 2026-2027. The election is scheduled to be held at the World Trade Center in Agrabad. In preparation, the election board will meet on August 30 to select delegates from various trade groups and town associations.

The election schedule outlines that a primary voter list will be published on September 7, followed by the final voter list on September 14. Nomination papers will be available for purchase from September 14 to September 20, with the last date for withdrawal set for September 21. A draft list of candidates will be released on September 25, with the final list published on October 5, 2025.

The last CCC and I election took place in 2013. Following the end of the elected committee’s tenure, no direct voting occurred, as leadership was taken over by a faction of businessmen led by the then Awami League lawmaker and former CCC and I President M A Latif without contest. The Board of Directors, including the President and two vice presidents, resigned in the wake of the student-led July Uprising.
