Dhaka: Chittagong Stock Exchange PLC (CSE) today inaugurated a two-day training programme on securities law for compliance officers and authorised representatives of its Dhaka-based TREC holder companies. The training session, taking place at the Bangladesh Academy for Securities Market, saw participation from numerous industry professionals eager to enhance their understanding of securities law.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the training was conducted by officials from CSE's Compliance, Inspection and Enforcement Department, including Md. Zahidul Islam, Dewan Zahidul Islam, and Md. Rabiul Awal. M Sadek Ahmed, head of Training and Awareness at CSE, moderated the sessions, ensuring a comprehensive learning experience for all attendees.
Speaking at the inaugural ceremony, CSE Managing Director M. Saifur Rahman Mazumdar, FCA, FCMA, emphasized the importance of professional training and skill development, especially during a transformative phase for the country's capital market. He articulated that transparency in the regulatory framework is key to business success and investor confidence. Mazumdar also highlighted that institutions with robust compliance practices are better equipped to achieve professionalism and sustainable growth.
Mazumdar urged market participants to blend technological expertise with strict compliance measures to create transparent and investor-friendly brokerage houses. He noted that this approach would significantly contribute to the development of Bangladesh's capital market. Furthermore, he mentioned CSE's pioneering efforts in introducing new products aimed at deepening the market, along with ongoing initiatives to establish a commodity market.
Trainers at the programme delivered in-depth sessions on various aspects of securities laws, focusing on recent amendments and proper report preparation procedures. They offered practical guidance on avoiding common reporting errors, which participants found timely and beneficial. Attendees expressed appreciation for the clarity provided on several legal issues and requested CSE to organize similar programmes regularly to ensure market professionals stay updated with the evolving regulatory landscape.
