Dhaka: Khulna Range Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of Police Md. Mostafizur Rahman today asserted that no political affiliation or identity would be considered while taking legal action against offenders, emphasizing that criminals would be judged solely on the basis of their crimes. "An offender has no identity. Action will be taken based on the offence committed, not on political affiliation or any other identity," he stated while exchanging views with journalists.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the DIG highlighted the importance of strengthening law enforcement through technology-driven investigations to bring criminals to justice. He elaborated that, alongside conventional policing, the Khulna Range Police would implement a coordinated approach combining intelligence-led policing, technology-driven policing, and community engagement to improve crime prevention and investigation.
He further pointed out that policing would adhere to the government's policy while ensuring active public participation. In addition to taking action after crimes occur, police would place greater emphasis on preventive measures based on intelligence inputs to prevent crimes before they happen.
The DIG also mentioned the maximum use of mobile technology, digital data, and other modern technologies to enhance policing services and improve investigative efficiency. Stressing the role of the media, Mostafizur Rahman acknowledged that journalists play a crucial role in evaluating police performance and reflecting public expectations. He added that constructive criticism of police shortcomings by the media would aid in improving the quality of police services.
The meeting was attended by Khulna Superintendent of Police Md. Tajul Islam and other senior police officials.
