Dhaka:A court in Dhaka has rescheduled the submission of a probe report in a graft case involving former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, her sister Sheikh Rehana, and the former president of the Bangladesh Association of Banks (BAB), Md Nazrul Islam Mazumder. The report is now due on January 31, 2027.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the report was initially due today, but the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) was unable to submit it. Consequently, Judge Shahjahan Kabir of the Dhaka Metropolitan Senior Special Judge Court extended the deadline.
The ACC filed the case on September 3, 2026, citing Sections 409 and 109 of the Penal Code, 1860, and Section 5(2) of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1947. The case documents allege that the 'Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Memorial Trust,' formed by Sheikh Hasina and Sheikh Rehana on September 6, 1994, received Taka 276.34 crore from the corporate social responsibility (CSR) funds of 41 banks. The funds were allegedly obtained through undue influence and intervention by Md Nazrul Islam Mazumder during his tenure as the chairman of BAB.
