Court Sets July 27 for Graft Probe Report Against Former BRUR Vice-Chancellor

Dhaka: A court here today set July 27 for submitting the probe report in a graft case against five individuals, including former Begum Rokeya University, Rangpur (BRUR) Vice-Chancellor Professor Nazmul Ahsan Kalimullah.



According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Dhaka Metropolitan Senior Special Judge Md Sabbir Faiz passed the order, as the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) failed to submit the probe report today. The case, filed by ACC Assistant Director Minhaz Bin-Islam on July 18, 2025, alleges embezzlement of funds from the BRUR development project.



The other accused in the case are former Vice-Chancellor and project director of the university Prof AKM Nurunnabi, former executive engineer and a member of the tender evaluation committee Jahangir Alam, and two contractors, Abdus Salam Bachhu and M M Habibur Rahman.



A team of the Detective Branch (DB) of Dhaka Metropolitan Police arrested Prof Kalimullah from his Mohammadpur residence on August 7 last year. He was subsequently taken into police remand for five days on August 27, 2025, in connection with the case.
