Dhaka: A court here today ordered to freeze a total of 28 bank accounts of former health minister Zahid Maleque and his son Rahar Maleque over graft charges. Of the 28 bank accounts, 16 are held by Zahid and 12 belong to Rahar.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Dhaka Metropolitan Senior Special Judge Zakir Hossain Galib passed the order, permitting two separate petitions filed by Deputy Director of the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC), Fazlul Haque. In his petition, Fazlul Haque stated that the father-son duo are accused of making suspicious transactions through their accounts and are allegedly attempting to relocate funds they earned illegally.

For the sake of a thorough investigation, Haque argued that it was imperative to freeze their accounts. After hearing the petition, the court agreed and ordered the freezing of the accounts.
