Dhaka: A court here today ordered the attachment of plots and a building, valued at approximately Taka 15 crore, belonging to ousted prime minister Sheikh Hasina’s defence adviser, Major General (Retd) Tarique Ahmed Siddique, and his brother Shafique Ahmed Siddique. The court also mandated the appointment of a receiver to oversee these properties.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Dhaka Metropolitan Senior Special Judge Md Zakir Hossain Galib issued the order after considering a request from the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC). The properties in question include 17 decimals of land owned by Shafique Ahmed Siddique in Gazipur, 67 decimals of land belonging to Tarique Ahmed Siddique, and a 10-storey building constructed on 19.50 decimals of land on the same plot.

The ACC’s request highlighted ongoing investigations into allegations of illegal wealth accumulation by the Siddique brothers. It was reported that the duo might be attempting to transfer, sell, or otherwise dispose of the properties to elude legal consequences. The ACC argued that attaching these properties and appointing a receiver was essential to ensure justice.
