Dhaka: A court here today ordered to attach a flat in the capital’s Gulshan belonging to ousted prime minister Sheikh Hasina’s daughter Saima Wazed Putul and appoint a receiver to look after the property. Dhaka Metropolitan Senior Special Judge Md Zakir Hossain Galib passed the order, granting an appeal of the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC).
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the anti-graft body in its plea stated that the accused has attempted to sell or change the ownership of the assets. The ACC argued that if she succeeds in doing so, the investigation will be hampered.
To ensure a thorough probe into the graft case, the ACC requested the court to attach the property and appoint a receiver to oversee it. The court’s decision is seen as a significant step in the ongoing investigation.
