Dhaka: A court here today issued a permanent travel ban on former Awami League lawmaker from Sirajganj-2 constituency, Jannat Ara Henry, her husband Shamim Talukder, and their daughter Muntaha. Dhaka Metropolitan Sessions Judge Md Zakir Hossain Galib passed the order upon a petition from the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC).
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the Assistant Director of the ACC, Asif Al Mahmud, who was tasked with conducting inquiries into allegations of amassing illegal wealth beyond known sources of income, filed the petition. The ACC Public Prosecutor, Mahmud Hossain Jahangir, moved the petition before the court, emphasizing the risk that Henry could leave the country with the illicitly acquired money.
The court had earlier, on September 19, imposed a temporary travel ban on Henry for 60 days.
