Dhaka:A court has granted a fresh three-day remand for Jerika Tasnis Disha, aged 19, who has been arrested as a suspect in the murder case of former Air Force Flight Lieutenant Tahsif Sauri. The remand was approved following the completion of an initial four-day remand period.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the police produced Jerika before the Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Court, requesting a seven-day remand to further investigate the case. Metropolitan Magistrate Manjurul Islam, however, granted a three-day remand after the hearing. Previously, on November 1, a four-day remand was granted by Metropolitan Magistrate Ripon Hossain.
The case statement reveals that on October 27, Tahsif Sauri left home after receiving a call from a friend named 'Deep' around 600 PM. When he did not return that night, his mother contacted him, and he assured her of his return shortly. A voice message was later sent from his phone at 135 AM, stating, "I have left; I am on my way," but he did not return even by the next afternoon.
On October 28, around 520 PM, the River Police informed the family that Tahsif's body had been found in the Turag River near the Rajarbari Ghat area in Uttarkhan. After a preliminary autopsy at Shaheed Suhrawardy Hospital, the body was handed over to the family on October 29. Tahsif was buried following religious rites at a graveyard in sector 12, Uttara, on the same afternoon.
Tahsif's father, K. M. Enayetul Karim, subsequently filed a murder case at the Uttarkhan Police Station in the capital on October 31.
