Manikganj: A couple was killed in a head-on collision involving three vehicles near the Barangail bus stand area today. The deceased were identified as Monayem Khan, 50, and Josna Akter, 45. They were returning to their village home in Boalmari Upazila of Faridpur district from the Chalabon area of Dakkhin Khan, Dhaka.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Barangail Highway Police Harunar Rashid said the accident took place around 1:45 pm. A Dhaka-bound speedy covered van, attempting to overtake another passenger bus traveling in the same direction, collided with a Paturia-bound motorcycle.
Motorcycle driver Monayem Khan and his wife Josna Akter were seriously injured in the crash. Monayem Khan died on the way to Manikganj Sadar 250-bed Hospital, while Josna Akter succumbed to her injuries shortly after being admitted.
