Chandanaish: Fisheries and Livestock Adviser Farida Akhtar has stated that the country has not yet completely freed itself from fascism, despite the downfall of the fascist regime. She highlighted the sacrifices made by young people, including children, in the fight against fascism on August 5, noting the tragic images of people dying on hospital balconies and the loss of limbs and lives due to gunfire. Akhtar emphasized the patriotism and courage demonstrated by the youth during these events.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Farida Akhtar made these remarks while speaking as the chief guest at a seminar titled 'New Thinking: Developing the Skills of Youth,' organized by Swapnavilas Vidyanyakaniketan at the Upazila Auditorium in Chandanaish on Saturday. She urged the youth to remain active and vocal in their pursuit of justice in the coming days.
The seminar was presided over by Chandanaish Upazila Nirbahi Officer Md Rajib Hossain. Other notable attendees included Chandanaish Upazila Assistant Commissioner (Land) Diplomacy Chakma, Officer-in-Charge Golam Sarwar, Chandanaish Samity-Chattogram Adviser and Jamaat leader Dr Shahadat Hossain, LDP Presidium Member Prof Omar Faruk, former President of Chattogram Bar Association Advocate Nazim Uddin Chowdhury, Chandanaish Samity-Chattogram President Maksudur Rahman, General Secretary Jahangir Alam, and former General Secretary of Chandanaish Upazila BNP MA Hashem Raju, who spoke as special guests.
Following the seminar, a discussion was held at the same venue in the afternoon, involving officials from the Department of Fisheries and Livestock Advisory Services from the district and upazila levels, along with local farmers.
