Coordinated efforts by all needed to prevent juvenile crimes: Dipu Moni

Social Welfare Minister Dr Dipu Moni today said that coordinated efforts by all should be taken to prevent juvenile crimes, which are increasingly becoming a matter of concern for society. 'We've to take coordinate efforts to thwart juvenile crimes . . . Family as well as society will have to play a prime role in this regard,' she said while speaking as the chief guest at the seminar, titled 'Types and Causes of Juvenile Crimes: A Research Study on Children Stayed in Child Development Centres'. The social welfare minister said political influence and establishing supremacy in locality are the main reasons behind the juvenile crimes in the country. Nari Oykko Parishad organized the seminar at the CIRDAP auditorium with its president, Lutfun Nesa Khan, in the chair. 'If human relations remain good, family bondage remains strong, and society as well as the community play a positive role, juvenile crimes will come down to a great extent in the country,' she added. The introduction of moral education , sufficient sports facilities, and religious education can play a role in reducing juvenile crimes, she said. Additional Commissioner of the DMP and Chief of the DB Mohammad Harun or Rashid, Professor ASM Amanulla, Director General (DG) of Department of Social Services Dr. Abu Saleh Mostafa Kamal spoke at the seminar as special guests.
