Dhaka: Adviser to the ministries of Social Welfare and Women and Children Affairs, Sharmeen S. Murshid, today emphasized the enduring legacy of the July mass uprising, announcing the construction of the July Martyrs’ Memorial Foundation building to commemorate the contributions of the July fighters.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Sharmeen stated that the male and female fighters involved in the student-led July mass uprising would have the opportunity to visit the foundation and receive all necessary assistance. She made these remarks at the handing over ceremony of government-allocated land to the ‘July Martyrs’ Memorial Foundation’ in Bijoynagar, where she served as the chief guest.
In response to journalists’ inquiries, Sharmeen highlighted the nation’s gratitude toward the July fighters for their sacrifices and efforts to combat fascism. She stressed the importance of collective commitment to building a nation free from fascism and urged future leaders to support the July fighters in achieving their long-sought goals.
Sharmeen also announced that the newly allocated land would provide the foundation with stability, with plans to construct a dedicated building for the July Foundation. The ceremony was attended by officials including the Secretary to the Ministry of Housing and Public Works Md. Nazrul Islam, Senior Secretary to the Ministry of Land A.S.M. Saleh Ahmed, former Deputy Commissioner of Dhaka Tanvir Ahmed, and Chief Executive Officer of the July Martyrs’ Memorial Foundation Lieutenant Colonel (Rtd.) Kamal Akbar.
