Chattogram:The Directorate of National Consumer Rights Protection imposed fines totaling Tk 53,000 on three establishments near Chattogram Medical College Hospital for various violations.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the establishments faced penalties for selling green coconuts at inflated prices, possessing unauthorized Indian medicines, and maintaining unhygienic food service conditions. The operation was led by Md. Fayez Ullah, Deputy Director of the Directorate's Chattogram office, with assistance from Assistant Director Md. Anisur Rahman, other directorate officials, and local law enforcement.

During the enforcement drive, Raisha Medical Hall was fined Tk 40,000 for stocking unauthorized Indian medicines and expired drugs. Bhandari Hotel received a fine of Tk 10,000 for providing food in an unhygienic environment. Additionally, a trader named Nayan was fined Tk 3,000 for overpricing green coconuts and failing to present purchase vouchers.

Deputy Director Fayez Ullah highlighted the discovery of unauthorized Indian injections at Raisha Medical Hall, which lacked Drug Registration numbers. These injections were reportedly intended for heart disease and poisoning cases, despite the availability of approved alternatives in Bangladesh. Ullah emphasized that selling unregistered medicines poses risks of being counterfeit and ineffective.
