Dhaka: Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) Standing Committee Member Dr. AZM Zahid Hossain today stated that both domestic and international conspiracies are actively working to undermine democracy in the country. “Domestic and international conspiracies are ongoing against the establishment of democracy in the country,” he remarked at a rally organized by the 12-party alliance.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the rally, titled ‘Resist the Rehabilitation of Awami Fascism and the Conspiracy to Foil the Election,’ was held in front of the National Press Club. Dr. Zahid emphasized the need for unity and urged the alliance leaders to stand by his party in their efforts to restore democracy and build a new Bangladesh. He recalled the alliance’s past support in movements to restore democracy and expressed hope that they would continue to support BNP Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman.
Dr. Zahid highlighted the BNP’s 31-point programme as the framework for Future Bangladesh, detailing plans for healthcare, rule of law, agriculture, and basic needs like food, clothing, and shelter. He stated that the party is fighting to establish a trustworthy government characterized by good governance and the rule of law, where no innocent person is punished and no offender goes free.
The BNP leader called for a strong unity to prevent any resurgence of fascism in Bangladesh, pledging to resist all conspiracies through united street movements. The rally saw participation from key figures of the 12-party alliance, including Mostofa Jamal Haider, Shahadat Hossain Selim, Syed Ehsanul Huda, and others, with Tamizuddin Titu moderating the event.
