Dhaka: The National Consensus Commission convened a virtual meeting with a panel of legal and constitutional experts to evaluate strategies for implementing the July National Charter-2025 and address critical issues from its recent discussions with political parties.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the meeting included insights from former Appellate Division Justice MA Matin, former Justice Moinul Islam Chowdhury, Dean of Dhaka University Law Faculty Professor Mohammad Ikramul Haque, Senior Advocate of the Supreme Court Dr. Sharif Bhuiyan, Barrister Imran Siddique, and Barrister Tanim Hossain Shawon, as stated in a press release.
The participants focused on the major issues highlighted in the October 5 meeting between the Commission and political parties, with particular attention to the proposed mechanisms for implementing the 'July National Charter 2025'. In-depth discussions were also held on the proposed referendum process related to the Charter's implementation.
The Commission is scheduled to hold another meeting tomorrow morning with the experts. Representing the commission at the meeting were Vice-Chairman Professor Ali Riaz, members Dr. Badiul Alam Majumder, Justice Md Emdadul Haque, Dr. Iftekharuzzaman, Dr. Md Ayub Miah, and Chief Adviser's Special Assistant Monir Haider.
