Dhaka: The Coordinator General of the Standing Committee for Scientific and Technological Cooperation (COMSTECH) of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), Professor Dr. Muhammad Iqbal Chowdhury, inaugurated the 3rd OIC Youth Forum on Agricultural Biotechnology at North South University in Dhaka, Bangladesh. The event was organized by COMSTECH in collaboration with the Islamic Organization for Food Security (IOFS) and North South University (NSU).
According to Union of OIC News Agencies, the forum aims to gather prominent policymakers, academics, and international organizations’ representatives to discuss the crucial role of biotechnology in addressing challenges related to global food security. The Coordinator General emphasized the strong partnership between Bangladesh and COMSTECH in the promotion of science and technology. He highlighted the success of the COMSTECH-Bangladesh Scholarship Programme, which has facilitated young researchers in pursuing advanced studies and research in Pakistan and other Islamic countries.
The forum, concluding today, features multiple scientific sessions with speakers from various countries, including Turkey, Malaysia, Azerbaijan, Pakistan, Kazakhstan, Saudi Arabia, and the United Kingdom. These sessions provide a platform for exchanging knowledge and enhancing international cooperation in agricultural biotechnology. Professor Dr. Muhammad Iqbal Chowdhury expressed gratitude to North South University, the Islamic Organization for Food Security, and all partner institutions for their contributions in making the forum possible.
