Dhaka: The National Legal Aid Services Organization (NLASO) has successfully recovered compensation amounting to Taka 6,6926,215 for workers. This significant achievement highlights the ongoing efforts to provide legal assistance to the country’s workforce.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the information was revealed in a report published on the NLASO website. The report outlines the extensive legal support provided by NLASO from 2009 to July 2025. Initially, the organization’s legal services were extended to the indigent population at the district level. Over time, these services were expanded to include the Supreme Court, a toll-free ‘16430’ call center, workers’ legal aid cells in Dhaka and Chattogram, and prisons nationwide.

The report indicates that the Workers’ Legal Assistance Cell in Dhaka and Chattogram has provided 21,682 legal advice services. Legal assistance was rendered in 4,465 cases, with 815 cases already settled. Furthermore, Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) initiatives were implemented in 3,301 cases, leading to the settlement of 1,914 cases. As a result, a total of 29,448 beneficiaries have received legal help from the Workers’ Legal Assistance Cell in these two major cities.

This legal service is provided at government expense under the ‘Legal Aid Act’ to support financially indigent and legally incompetent individuals in their pursuit of justice. The activities of the National Legal Aid Services Organization are conducted under the Law and Justice Division of the Ministry of Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs.
