Rajshahi: A soothing rainfall occurred in Rajshahi on the first night of the Bengali month of Chaitra, offering relief to residents after a prolonged dry winter spell. The light rain not only provided comfort but also slightly lowered the daytime temperature in the city.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the Meteorological Office reported that Rajshahi received 2.4 millimeters of rainfall over approximately an hour between 9:05 pm and 10:20 pm on Sunday, March 15. This rainfall came after a near three-week dry period, with the last recorded rain being a mere 0.1 millimeter on February 20.
Sources at the Meteorological Office indicated that light rainfall during this period is not uncommon, as it often occurs due to seasonal changes. Meteorologists have observed that such rain can lead to a slight decrease in nighttime temperatures.
The unexpected rain on the night of Chaitra's first day created a pleasant atmosphere across various parts of the city. Many residents are interpreting this change in weather as a precursor to the upcoming summer season.
Gausuzzaman, Senior Observer at the Rajshahi Meteorological Observatory, mentioned that the skies remain cloudy, and there could be more rainfall during the night. The Meteorological Office also noted that Rajshahi recorded a maximum temperature of 32.4°C and a minimum temperature of 25.8°C on that day.
