Coast Guard to Enhance Security at Durga Immersion Sites: DG

Narayanganj: Director General of Bangladesh Coast Guard Rear Admiral Md Ziaul Hoque has announced heightened security measures during the immersion of the goddess Durga on Vijaya Dashami, scheduled for October 2. He emphasized the Coast Guard’s commitment to ensuring maximum security at immersion sites across the river.



According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Rear Admiral Hoque made these remarks while speaking to journalists after visiting the Ramakrishna Mission Ashram Puja Mandap in Narayanganj city. He was accompanied by various levels of Coast Guard officials during his visit. The DG highlighted the Coast Guard’s responsibility for maintaining security across temples and Puja Mandaps in coastal and riverine areas, including major cities like Dhaka, Chittagong, and Narayanganj.



Rear Admiral Hoque assured that a special diving team is always prepared to respond to any incidents at idol immersion sites. He urged the public to refrain from overloading boats and advised non-swimmers to avoid entering the river during the immersions. Furthermore, he mentioned that public awareness campaigns are being conducted alongside continuous patrols to prevent any unpleasant incidents. So far, no incidents have been reported, and the DG expressed hope for a peaceful and safe celebration of the religious festival.
