Lalmohan: The Bangladesh Coast Guard (BCG) has successfully seized two fishing boats carrying 800 kilograms of marine fish, which included 20 kilograms of shark, during a recent operation at Gazaria Launch Ghat in Lalmohan, Bhola district.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Coast Guard Media Officer Lieutenant Commander Harun-or-Rashid announced the details of the operation through a press release. The operation was based on secret information and conducted by the Coast Guard Outpost Lalmohan under the BCG South Zone in the area near Gazaria Launch Ghat under the jurisdiction of Lalmohan Police Station.
During the operation, two illegal artisanal trawling boats, identified as FB Mayer Doa-2 and FB Nabipur-4, were seized along with 800 kilograms of marine fish, including 20 kilograms of shark. Following the seizure, the marine fish were handed over to the Lalmohan Upazila Fisheries Department. The shark fish were destroyed with representatives from the forest department present, and a legal case was filed against the owner of the seized trawling boats at Lalmohan Police Station.
Lieutenant Commander Harun-or-Rashid emphasized that the Bangladesh Coast Guard is patrolling 24 hours a day to uphold law and order in the country's coastal and riverine areas. These patrols have significantly improved the law and order situation and aim to protect the fishery resources within the Coast Guard's jurisdiction. The active campaign against illegal fishing activities will continue in the future.
