Sundarbans: The Bangladesh Coast Guard has successfully dismantled a hideout belonging to the infamous pirate group ‘Chhoto Suman Bahini’ in the Sundarbans, seizing various items linked to criminal activities.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Coast Guard Media Officer Lieutenant Commander Sabbir Alam Sujon confirmed the operation. Acting on intelligence reports, Coast Guard personnel discovered that members of the pirate gang were active near the Simanta Khal area under Mongla Police Station in Bagerhat district.
The operation, conducted around 6:00 am by Coast Guard Base Mongla and Station Harbaria, led to the identification and destruction of the pirate hideout. Law enforcement officers confiscated a walkie-talkie set used in robberies, along with other daily necessities and related items.
The pirates managed to evade capture by fleeing into the dense forest upon sensing the presence of the Coast Guard. Consequently, no arrests were made during the operation. Legal action concerning the seized items is currently in progress.
Lieutenant Commander Sujon stated that the Coast Guard would continue its efforts to ensure the Sundarbans remain free from pirate activities.
