Bagerhat: The Coast Guard arrested two alleged drug dealers along with ganja and yaba in a special operation in Bagerhat on Monday afternoon. Coast Guard Media Officer Lieutenant Commander Siam-ul-Haq disclosed the arrest on Monday evening, noting that the operation was conducted by members of Coast Guard Base Mongla in the area adjacent to Chulkati Bazar under Fakirhat Police Station.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the operation was initiated following a secret tip-off. The Coast Guard apprehended Shahidul Islam, 52, from Alutola village under Luanthara Police Station in Khulna, and Yasir Ali, 25, from Haldibunia village under Koyra Police Station. The authorities seized 2 kilograms of ganja and 200 pieces of yaba, valued at approximately Taka 1.64 lakh.
Legal proceedings against the arrested individuals are currently underway, as stated by Lieutenant Commander Siam-ul-Haq. He further emphasized that the Coast Guard will persist with such operations to shield the youth from the influence of drugs.
