Kathmandu: Newly-appointed Chief of Army Staff (CoAS) Ashok Raj Sigdel on Monday assumed office at the Nepali Army (NA) Headquarters.
With this, Sigdel has officially taken command of the NA as the 45th CoAS.
He also offered tributes by visiting the Sainik Manch at Tundhikhel and Bir Ismarak at Chhauni in Kathmandu.
A contingent of the NA offered a guard of honour to CoAS Sigdel prior to taking up the office.
The CoAS on Monday itself took oath of office and secrecy before President Ramchandra Paudel who also serves as the Supreme Commander of the NA.
Born on February 1, 1967 BS in Rupandehi district, Sigdel joined the NA as a cadet officer in 1986.
He had been entrusted with the responsibility of the Acting CoAS since August 9 as there is a provision that the sitting CoAS stays on a one-month leave before retirement.
