Brahmanbaria: A CNG-run auto-rickshaw driver lost his life in a collision with a covered van on the Dhaka-Sylhet highway at Malihata in Sadar upazila of Brahmanbaria district. The tragic incident occurred on Wednesday, claiming the life of 55-year-old Ashique, the son of Ira Mia from Sadar upazila.
According to United News of Bangladesh, Ashique was heading towards Ashuganj when the covered van struck his CNG-run auto-rickshaw. The collision resulted in Ashique's immediate death at the scene, as confirmed by Jahangir Alam, the officer-in-charge of Khatihata Highway Police Station.
Following the incident, local residents reacted by setting the covered van on fire. The police, upon receiving information, retrieved Ashique's body and transported it to Brahmanbaria General Hospital morgue for an autopsy.
Despite the efforts to manage the situation, the driver of the covered van managed to escape, and no arrests have been made yet.
