Chattogram: Chattogram Metropolitan Police (CMP) has issued a ban on all public gatherings, processions, and meetings in the main road and surrounding areas from the GEC intersection to Dewanhat in the city. CMP Commissioner Hasan Md. Shawkat Ali imposed the ban today.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the notice stated that the decision was made under the authority given in Section 30 of the CMP Ordinance, 1978 to maintain peace, order, and public safety. The ban will be effective from May 18 until further notice. It was added that legal action will be taken against any violation.
