Chattogram: The nephrology department at Chattogram Medical College (CMCH) Hospital has bolstered its kidney treatment capabilities with the acquisition of four new dialysis machines. This addition increases the department's total number of dialysis machines to 18, significantly improving services for patients with kidney ailments.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the machines were installed in Ward No. 17 of CMCH Hospital, thanks to funding from KSRM, a prominent industrial institution in the country. The inauguration ceremony took place on Monday, with city Mayor Dr. Shahadat Hossain presiding as the chief guest.
KSRM Deputy Managing Director Nabab Sirajuddaula attended as a special guest, while CMCH Hospital Director Brigadier General Mohammad Taslim Uddin chaired the event. Mayor Dr. Hossain emphasized that the new machines would make medical services for kidney patients more accessible and efficient, enhancing the department's capacity. Brigadier General Uddin noted that the machines would enable more patients to receive high-quality care daily.
The event also saw attendance from CMCH Vice-Principal Professor Dr. Md. Abdur Rob, Head of the Department of Nephrology Professor Dr. Nurul Huda, President of the DAB Chattogram District Branch Dr. Tamiz Uddin Ahmed, General Secretary Dr. Fayezur Rahman, and General Secretary of DAB CMCH Dr. Belayet Hossain Dhali, among others.
In addition to the Nephrology Department at CMCH Hospital, the private organization Sandor offers dialysis services and operates 31 machines. The department's 14 machines provide subsidized dialysis services for patients, thereby enhancing the accessibility of critical kidney care.
