Dhaka: Chief Justice Syed Refaat Ahmed today urged lawyers to write books on jurisprudence and emphasized that books supplement life. “I always think that books supplement life. We pass many a stage or chapter of life. If there are any imperfections or ambiguities in those stages, we cannot go back to correct those. But after completing a book, if we think that we didn’t understand any chapter clearly, we can have an opportunity to read that afresh. By doing this, we can clear the ambiguity in this case,” he said.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the chief justice made these remarks after inaugurating the 10-day annual book fair of the Bangladesh Supreme Court Bar Association (SCBA) on the Supreme Court premises. The event was presided over by SCBA president Barrister AM Mahbub Uddin Khokan, with the inaugural ceremony conducted by SCBA acting secretary Md Mahfuzur Rahman (Milon).

This year, the fair features 48 stalls offering books on various subjects, particularly focusing on law and legal reference, politics, and children’s literature, as stated by SCBA administrative officer Md Rabiul Hasan.
