CID Unearths Mystery of Teenage Van Driver Murder, Arrests 3.

PABNA: The Criminal Investigation Department (CID) has made a breakthrough in last year’s murder of a teenage van driver in Pabna district, capturing three individuals from Savar and Sathia in Pabna, suspected to be linked to the heinous crime.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the arrested individuals have been identified as Md. Sagar Ali (25), the alleged main perpetrator, along with his accomplices Md. Tamal Sheikh (30) and Khokon Khan (40). A CID team conducted a raid in Savar on November 12 last year, apprehending the trio in connection with the murder of Raju, a 14-year-old van driver, in the Bera Thana area of Pabna district on February 28, 2023.

On the morning of February 2, 2023, Raju left his home in Bera Thana area with his van, intending to rent it out. When he failed to return home that day, his family began searching for him. The following day, his mother filed a general diary with Bera Police Station.

After assuming responsibility for the investigation, CID, Pabna District, acting on intelligence information, arrested the main suspect, Sagar Ali, from the Aminpur Bazar area under Savar police station on November 12, 2024. Sagar confessed to his involvement in the murder.

Based on information obtained during Sagar’s interrogation, CID later apprehended his accomplices, Tamal Sheikh and Khokon Khan, from the Santhia police station area in Pabna district. Initial interrogation revealed that on February 2, 2023, the accused killed Raju in the afternoon at Nagarbari Ghat, robbed his van, and sold it for Tk 17,000.
