Chittagong: Chittagong Hill Tracts (CHT) Affairs Minister Dipen Dewan has resigned from the Cabinet citing health reasons. Prime Minister's Additional Press Secretary Atikur Rahman Rumon stated that Dewan submitted his resignation letter to Prime Minister Tarique Rahman, mentioning that his health condition is preventing him from carrying out his official duties properly. The Prime Minister accepted his resignation.
According to United News of Bangladesh, Dewan expressed in his resignation letter that due to his physical illness, he faces challenges in managing the regular responsibilities of the ministry. He further mentioned that stepping down from his position has become necessary to maintain the momentum of the government's development and administrative activities.
Dipen Dewan had been serving as the Minister for Chittagong Hill Tracts Affairs in the government formed after the BNP's landslide victory in the February 12 general election.
