Chattogram: A mobile court of the Directorate of National Consumer Rights Protection Department today sealed and fined Bismillah Food Products, a chips factory in the city’s Halishahar area, for producing food items in an unhygienic environment without proper authorization.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the drive was led by Mohammad Faiz Ullah, Deputy Director of the Chattogram Division of the Consumer Rights Protection Department. He stated that the factory had been using excessive chemicals for a long time and manufacturing chips and baby food in dirty, unsafe conditions without approval from the Bangladesh Standards and Testing Institution (BSTI).
The factory was fined Taka 3 lakh, and the establishment was sealed during the operation. Officials of the Consumer Rights Protection Department, assisted by a team from the Chattogram Metropolitan Police, took part in the drive.
Faiz Ullah mentioned that similar campaigns will continue to protect consumer health and ensure safe food practices.
