Chinese Vice Foreign Minister Sun Weidong to Lead Delegation for Diplomatic Talks in Bangladesh

Dhaka: Chinese Vice Foreign Minister Sun Weidong is set to embark on an official visit to Bangladesh from April 2-3, leading the Chinese delegation in the 14th Bangladesh-China Diplomatic Consultations. During his visit, Vice Foreign Minister Weidong is anticipated to engage with high-level dignitaries.



According to United News of Bangladesh, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has detailed that the consultations aim to review the comprehensive scope of bilateral relations between Bangladesh and China. The discussions will also seek to identify new opportunities for enhanced cooperation in areas of mutual interest. This visit follows a meeting between Chinese Ambassador to Bangladesh Yao Wen and Bangladesh’s Foreign Minister Dr. Khalilur Rahman, where they discussed topics of mutual concern.



Prime Minister’s Foreign Affairs Adviser Humaiun Kobir was present at the meeting. The Chinese Ambassador briefed Foreign Minister Rahman on Vice Foreign Minister Sun Weidong’s forthcoming visit. Foreign Minister Rahman, recognizing China’s significant support and contribution to Bangladesh’s development, expressed optimism that this visit would bring renewed energy to the Bangladesh-China bilateral relations, especially in the aftermath of Bangladesh forming a new government.
