Chinese Taipei Secures Semi-Finals Spot with Convincing Victory Over Poland

Mirpur: Chinese Taipei confirmed their semi-finals spot in the 2nd Women’s Kabaddi World Cup after a facile 63-29 victory over Poland held at Shaheed Suhrawardi Indoor Stadium in Mirpur today. Having won all five of their matches, they topped Group B with 10 points to reach the semi-finals. Iran qualified from this group as runners-up.



According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, dominant from the outset, Chinese Taipei ended the first half leading 33-14. They maintained their rhythm in the second half and sealed the match with a 34-point winning margin.



In the Sunday’s semi-final, Chinese Taipei will face Bangladesh, the runners-up of Group A. Iran will face defending champions India in the other semifinal on the same day.



After the match, Taipei captain Ya Han Chuang said, “We’ll meet Bangladesh team in the semifinal. So, we’ll be prepared for the game. Bangladesh is a skillful team, so we have to give our best there.”



Replying to a question, she admitted that it would be a pressure game for them because they are going to face the host team but she said her team would only concentrate on the game. She said after the fifth straight consecutive victory in this tournament her team is more confident now.
