Cox’s bazar: A child was killed and four people were injured in a road accident here today. The accident occurred around 12 noon at Whykong Jhimongkhali area on the Cox’s Bazar-Teknaf Highway.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the deceased, Nahid Islam, 9, was the son of Mohammad Nur from Ali Akbar Para under Hnila Union in Teknaf Upazila. Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Whykong thana, Nurul Absar, stated that the accident happened when a bus collided head-on with an auto-rickshaw.
The collision left the auto-rickshaw badly mangled, injuring the child and several others. Locals promptly rescued the injured and transported them to Hnila Health Complex. Upon arrival, the on-duty doctor declared Nahid Islam dead.
The injured individuals were admitted to the hospital for treatment. Authorities have seized the bus involved in the accident, and legal proceedings are currently underway.
