Sherpur: A child was killed and four others, including his mother and two siblings, were injured in a head-on collision between a passenger bus and a CNG-run auto-rickshaw in Nakla upazila today.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the deceased, Nazif Hossain, 12, was the son of Police Constable Nazrul Islam from the Masterbari area in Jamalpur Sadar upazila. The tragic incident occurred this afternoon at the Nakla Kursha Bypass intersection on the Dhaka-Sherpur highway.
Police and local sources revealed that Nazrul's wife and children were traveling by a CNG-run auto-rickshaw from Mymensingh to Jamalpur when their vehicle collided head-on with a Dhaka-bound bus at the Kursha Bypass intersection. The impact resulted in the immediate death of Nazif Hossain.
Nazrul's wife, Suma Akter, along with their children, Nahid and Nawshin, and the auto-rickshaw driver, sustained serious injuries in the accident. Suma Akter and Nahid, whose conditions were critical, were transferred to Mymensingh Medical College Hospital for treatment, while the other two injured were admitted to Nakla Upazila Health Complex.
Officer-in-Charge of Nakla Police Station, Ripon Chandra Gope, confirmed the incident, stating that the bus involved has been seized and legal action is currently underway.
