Dhaka: Chiefs of the three services this evening paid a courtesy call on President Mohammed Shahabuddin at Bangabhaban on the occasion of Armed Forces Day. Chief of Army Staff General Waker-Uz-Zaman, Chief of Naval Staff Admiral M Nazmul Hassan, and Chief of Air Staff Air Chief Marshal Hasan Mahmood Khan met the President at 7 pm. According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, during the meeting, the President, who is also the Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces, was apprised of various activities of their respective forces, as stated by President's Press Secretary Md Joynal Abedin. Congratulating the members of the armed forces on this significant occasion, the Head of State acknowledged their honor-bringing achievements both nationally and internationally. President Shahabuddin extended greetings and felicitations to all members of the armed forces and their families in celebration of the day. He referred to the armed forces, formed through the Liberation War, as a symbol of national pride. In addition to s afeguarding the nation's independence and sovereignty, the President highlighted the forces' role in enhancing the country's reputation through exemplary performance in international peacekeeping missions. The Head of State also commended the armed forces for their contributions to maintaining law and order and establishing peace within the country, notably after the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement. President Shahabuddin expressed optimism that the members of the armed forces would continue to contribute significantly to national development by further enhancing their professional skills. The meeting was also attended by concerned secretaries from Bangabhaban.
