Barishal:Chief Whip Nurul Islam Moni has emphasized the importance of stability in the political landscape, urging opposition parties to refrain from actions that could destabilize the country. Speaking at the 2026 Barishal divisional conference of Zia Mancha, held at the Barishal Shilpakala Academy auditorium, Moni highlighted that the government's performance will be evaluated by the people at the next election.
According to United News of Bangladesh, Moni called upon political opponents to wait for the electoral process rather than engaging in frequent movements that create instability. He asserted that any governmental failures would be addressed by the electorate through their votes.
Moni noted the government's challenges, citing a fragile economy and allegations of significant financial misappropriations. He criticized opposition activities, including long marches, which he claims obstruct efforts to rebuild the nation.
Addressing the power crisis, Moni mentioned that Prime Minister Tarique Rahman has endorsed a three-year tax exemption on the import of solar power equipment, a move intended to ameliorate electricity shortages. He expressed optimism that this measure could resolve the electricity deficit within a year if properly utilized.
Moni also remarked on the historical context, recalling the BNP's leadership in movements that toppled the previous government after enduring long-term repression. He praised former leaders such as Ziaur Rahman and Khaleda Zia for their roles in pivotal historical moments and restoring democracy. The chief whip underscored ongoing government initiatives like the Family Card and Farmers' Card to support disadvantaged communities.
