Chhatra Dal Condemns Harassment and Obstruction of Journalists at Jahangirnagar University

Dhaka: Jahangirnagar University Jahangirnagar University unit of Bangladesh Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal (JCD) has expressed concern and protested over the alleged obstruction and harassment of journalists while carrying out their professional duties on the campus.



According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the organisation issued a press release strongly condemning the reported incidents, describing them as contrary to democratic values and freedom of expression. The statement emphasized the vital role journalists play in society and the state through objective and factual reporting, and highlighted that any obstacle to journalists’ work environment in universities is a matter of concern.



The press release further mentioned that incidents such as obstructing journalists from performing their professional responsibilities or exhibiting discourteous behavior towards them over differences of opinion or any situation are unacceptable. It asserted that university campuses should remain a safe place for free thinking, tolerance, and democratic practices.



JU unit JCD Convener Jahir Uddin Mohammad Babor and Member Secretary Wasim Ahmed Anik expressed deep concern, condemnation, and protest over the incident. They called upon students, journalists, and all concerned to maintain responsible behavior and mutual respect to ensure a peaceful and conducive academic environment.
