Faridpur: The Bangladesh Road Transport Authority (BRTA) Board of Trustees distributed donation cheques among families of victims killed and injured in road accidents in Faridpur on Sunday. The cheque distribution ceremony was held at the Deputy Commissioner’s conference room in the afternoon, with BRTA Assistant Director Palash Khisa presiding over the event. Deputy Commissioner Md. Kamrul Hasan Molla attended as the chief guest.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the event was also attended by Additional Deputy Commissioner Mintu Biswas, Civil Surgeon Dr. Mahmudul Hasan, Faridpur District Minibus Owners Group Vice-President Muha: Shahin Chowdhury, and Inter-District Workers Union General Secretary Golam Azad. During the ceremony, speakers highlighted the severe impact of road accidents on families and underscored the necessity for drivers to adhere to traffic laws to mitigate such incidents.
The speakers acknowledged that while financial assistance cannot replace the loss of loved ones, the initiative serves to support affected families during challenging times. BRTA authorities reported that from July to November 2025, a total of Taka 1.93 crore was distributed among 41 applicants affected by road accidents. Families of 37 deceased victims received Taka 5 lakh each, while two injured individuals who lost limbs were granted Taka 3 lakh each. The remaining two injured victims were provided with Taka 1 lakh each as assistance.
